Writer’s Note: I have organized this column by element. Aquarius, Gemini, Libra are air signs. Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio, water; Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, fire; Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, earth. Water element of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, it usually comes down to the womb of things. Gestation, nurturing and giving care, what you miss sometimes is the receiving of care. Control, you have lots of it a la Janet circa 1986, however, surrendering control chimes in as much of a must in relationship dance as anything else.

Cancer: How you choose to speak and label your desired experiences will make the difference between having a life worth living and one that you simply go through the motions. Yes, it’s what you feel, until mid-August, it is what you say you’re going to act upon. During the beginning of summer you want everyone to all get along, and they will if you keep the right secrets of the right people. It seems like you have you’re holding something on others, like in an emotional blackmail kind of way. No, you have learned to position yourself as the center of what matters the most to those closest to you. Emerging as the best listener, your reward is to know what others don’t want others to know. It does not have to be complicated when you realize your role requires an acceptance of what others may not be able to accept about themselves. On a practical note, watch your driving, Speedy. And no trumped up arguments with neighbors, siblings or close cousins. Choose battles wisely, or not at all.

Scorpio: Perseverance and a highly discerning attitude towards your friends and acquaintances support a consistent character. Those closest to you know they didn’t get there by mere happenstance. Your code, uniquely tailored, errs on the side of criticality and suspiciousness. However, actively discriminating between those who have little to no moral compass and those who take the tough (and unpopular) stance also supports your consistent character. Speaking of “character,” the more you display yours, the more you’ll feel who belongs near you and who doesn’t. Imagine that the new world order is undergoing a breech birth. Up is down and down is up. What if your emotional body thrived upside down? Suddenly, what’s backwards works. Stay straightforwardly reverse. Want more of something? Give away freely what you already have. Saving leads to excessive repression, and that’s not consistent with your character, at least not for the next seven weeks.

Pisces: Since the beginning of May, you’ve been pushed towards greater submissiveness. Sometimes, you learn being a bottom through topping others. Sure, your dominant ways are rarely obvious (unless you have strong fire sign placements in Aries, Leo or Sag). Your long lasting beauty demonstrates itself through that mixture of dominant/submissive, you know the facile manner in which you switch from sadist to masochist and back. Know now, though that if you went to any extremes in your game play of top/bottom, expect the next seven weeks for the score to be evened. Feisty and plucky, that’s you or that what searching for you. In other words, your partners reflect what simmering just beneath your not so well defined surface. Self-assertive behaviors go a long way in making your life closer to happily ever after than ever before. And, if you’ve been too pushy, embrace your inner Buddha.

Spiritually driven fire signs of Leo, Sag and Aries. Time to bring those lofty visions down to earth.

Leo: Time to get back to work. Well, not full-fledged, backbreaking work, but minding those pesky details that will make your dreams come true. It is not enough to engage in magical thinking or waiting for your lottery ship to come sailing in, it is getting to work on what makes your boat float. Life is for the living. And, just by being in physical body means you have to show up, play your role and actively participate. Especially you, concentrated inspirational fire sign that you are. Ignite us through your enthusiasm. You won’t have to grown up in order to see your life manifest. Emulate some grown-up behaviors, yes, but your sense of childlike wonder, is, forgive me, a wonder to behold. Escape the mundane world into yours built on imagination, but you must return and show us what you’ve learned. This very act of sharing keeps our inner child alive as well. Thank you.

Sagittarius: Read Leo first. Their message is your message. Except that you have to work harder. Most planetary energies activate your earthy areas of your chart. Do only have all you need to get by? You don’t even have the necessities? Well, you’ve slacked off at a time when you should be gathering your harvest. I don’t like “shoulds” but I don’t know another word. Honor your obligations? Don’t make any commitments unless you plan to follow through? You see, all authority figures have their eyes on you. Heavenly fathers to governmental officials to iterant first wives, suck it up, and do what you said you were going to do. It’d be infinitely better to leave us disappointed in the beginning through a resounding refusal than an easy going maybe later. Your intermittent follow through creates barely the needs to get by, not the extras that makes you a joyous and magnanimous soul with a full social calendar.

Aries: Me. Me. Me. Without incorporating that Me into We, you risk the danger of becoming a hollow voice with lots to say but no one willing to listen. Sure, we’ll hear. But, we won’t listen. If you have been on high, expect to be brought down low. To stir up controversy for the sake of your Me keeps you isolated like Rapunzel. However, once you align yourself with your particular brand of engaging service, you’ll find the rest of us eager to line up besides you. With Mars (your ruler) in Virgo, it has to be about the service, what is needed within your family, community, the planet. Challenge yourself to get on with that next stage of submissive joyous abandon to aiding ailing folk out.

Earth signs lose excessive pragmatism. Virgo, Cap and Taurus locate your inner trickster and set him or her loose. A smart ass does not have to make a soft behind.

Virgo: Identity building time. Use your passion for self-improvement to create a new relationship to your physical body. But, do this in the context of a hard won personal philosophy that can begin to be your legacy. So what if the word “legacy” sounds lofty. How do you balance out pettiness or excessive self-consciousness? A little loftiness is the sugar in the spoon that makes the medicine of living on this polluted planet go down. What do you want to be proud of? Where have clocked some bragging rights? Bring your light out from under any and all bushels. Sure, after spiritual enlightenment, you’ll have to get back to work and the business of living, but acting on impulse will not ruin your life. No dancing (or living) while looking down at your feet. Watch Gene Kelly’s Singing in the Rain, West Side Story or Fame…any musical that inspires you to act towards self-actualization. And, yes, you may take baby steps before your take your show on the road.

Capricorn: Your basic belief systems are being tested. As a matter of metaphysical fact, your life can be considered one big test. The days heat up as the oceans warm. Your cold blood begins to boil. With hot Mars and cold Saturn traveling through compatible earth sign of Virgo, hence the test of integrity. Got to do what you are meant to do. I’ve heard it said, “an acceptance of fate can lead to greater peace”. So who’s going to be: Wrathful Jehovah or Merciful Tara? Serving which master: God or Caesar? Don’t know? Then, take an adventure, a journey to your soul. “Oh, but that’s not practical,” you think. Oh, but you’ll return from your “whimsical” trip. But, take it you must. It does not have to be a bumpy ride in which you fasten your seat belts. With a little mediation and planning you can perceive the best way to handle any and all challenges.

Taurus: A triple Taurus (Sun, Moon and Ascendant) friend of mine said after she found out both of parents are Taurus, “I know you were loved.” She was right (as she often was). Your capacity for loving those you’ve chosen to love is deep, full and forever. For your love (Stevie Wonder’s a Taurus), though, we may choose to endure a possessive, and when insecure, jealous individual. These next seven weeks sizzle with passion, joy and heartfelt exchanges. No recreational criticism allowed. Suspend your judgments. Find the acceptance of yourself and this will be reflected in how others treat you. No tit-for-tat games. Lose the unhealthy self-interest. Giving freely and watch how much comes back to you, and in unexpected ways. Being loved well, I know how to love well. And, that I learned from my two Taurus parents. Can you embody this truth?

Air signs can run things. We had three air sign presidents in a row. Carter (Libra), Reagan (Aquarius) and Bush I (Gemini) held down the element of mental processes and intellectual prowess.

Libra: That merging of personal and career can have your scales tipping over sideways, huh? Whenever the Sun goes into Cancer, your year comes in for a landing. For the past nine months, you’ve been building up to what? What has your reputation brought you? It’s best for you to get down to the business of living, making certain that those under your charge have your reassurance and support. Not easy being you at this time, particularly with warrior Mars (guardian of your relationships) moving into your 12th house of nebulous obligations, self-undoing and timeless truths. Huh? Your feelings activate in a mixed fashion. You sense something owed, like borrowed and blue. Your inner battle could take on an extroverted quality, that is, you see where you’ve erred in how you’re being treated. Prayer, contemplation and all forms of healthy retreats are strongly suggested.

Aquarius: Passion consummated and expressed, that’s your next seven weeks. Speaking your self-actualized truths into the air thickens so-called thin air. No, this is not a weather report per se. This is an esoteric realization that your gravitas is about to be rewarded. Through painstaking self-analysis (and honest assessment) you can walk into any kind of “weather” within a partnership and ask for what you desire. However, if you have taken the broad, but not necessarily deep, approach to self-scrutiny, you’ll be placed on your ass. Narrow, specific and profound ought to be your insights. To act as if you know all won’t work at present. You’ve got gifts, use them. Self-actualize and self-determine, these are your guiding inner partners. One note: envious coworkers alert, you have the “gift” of being supportive to management without appearing to appease or brown nose.

Gemini: If you’ve been cleaning up your impulsive identity for the past 2 months, the next 7 weeks will be a breeze, an ocean breeze. Can you hear the waves? If you’ve taken the easy route to self-fulfillment, then the next 7 weeks will be one long stomachache. You are not destined to repeat the mistakes of your ancestors. You must fight what traits (genetic or psychological) you can. After the battle, acceptance is your virtue. Self-acceptance, first, that’s your mantra, your bridge over troubled waters. Without self-acceptance based on a bit of righteous indignation regarding your differences between you and your family, you are in danger of being a hollow sounding mouthpiece. You’re entirely more complicated than that…you have the capacity of intellectual nuance that makes us hum and whistle while we work. Look to your past, but don’t get saddled with burdens that aren’t yours…you’re way better than that, too.
